Description: One of the most famous hoaxes pulled in U.S. history, Naked Came the Stranger is based on the 1969 book which spent a week at the top of the New York Times Bestseller list - not for its literary value, but in spite of it. The book was not written by "Penelope Ashe" but by a group of 24 prominent journalist led by Newsday Columnist Mike McGrady whose goal was to write a terrible book that contained a plethora of sex. McGrady wanted to test his theory that any book with enough sex in it could become a bestselling book, regardless of its literary competence. He proved his point, selling approximately 90,000 copies by October 13, 1969. As sales continued to increase, many of the co-authors felt guilty about the large amounts of money they were earning and consequently went public on the David Frost Show. An X-rated movie version of the book was inevitable, especially in the 1970s era of Porno Chic. Owing partly to his hugely successful "Afternoons of Pamela Mann", the project was charged to respected softcore erotic director Radley Metzger who worked in hardcore under the pseudonym Henry Paris. Metzger also wrote the screenplay. Distribpix is proud to present the definitive edition of Radley Metzger's classic film restored and remastered in HD. Liner Notes: Sizzling sex, stunning cinematography, and the director's trademark humor make Radley Metzger's "Naked Came to the Stranger" an undisputed classic from the golden age of erotic film. Set in swinging 1970's New York, the film follows the sexual exploits of radio host Gillion Blake (the effervescent Darby Lloyd Raines in a career-best role) as she sets out to even the score with her philandering husband, Billy (Levi Richardson). Embarking on a series of torrid affairs with friend and acquaintances, Gilly ultimately ensnares the one person who can shake her husband's smug complacency to the core.
